Letter from our President

    Members

This email contains several reminders/updates.  Please take the time to read through the entire email.

    *         As you know, we are participating in a NCSHRM Statewide Food Drive.  We collected 125 pounds of food for Cooperative Christian Ministry during our April meeting.  Thanks to everyone who participated!  Remember, we will also be collecting items at our May and June meetings.

    *         Our chapter has been asked to provide volunteers to participate in a Poverty Simulation (flyer attached) put on by Cooperative Christian Ministry.  The experience includes an introduction and briefing, an actual simulation exercise, and a debriefing period in which participants share their feelings/experiences and talk about what they have learned about the lives of people living in poverty.  Also shared are resources available in the community for individuals in need.  This simulation is a MUST for HR professionals who manage people!  If you are interested, please contact Tracie Brunt at bruntt@sndcoffee.com.  The Simulation is scheduled for May 1st from 8:00am-10:15am.  The program has been submitted for 2 hours of HRCI Recertification Credit.

    *         CRSHRM received a Membership Superstar Award for 2013!!  Many chapters are still experiencing a decline in membership, so this is a great accomplishment!  Our chapter continues to grow!

    *         The 2014 NCSHRM Day in the District is scheduled for June 3rd in Raleigh.  You can register for this event at the following link:  http://nc.shrm.org/events/2014/06/2014-ncshrm-day-district-legislative-conference

    *         Our April speaker, Melissa Nixon, has provided our group with information about the Leadercast Live event happening in Charlotte on Friday, May 9th.  Leadercast is a 1-day experience that is broadcast live from Atlanta, GA and into hundreds of Host Sites around the world.  For more information and the speaker line-up, visit the website at http://leadercast.com/location/queencity .  Melissa has provided our group with a PROMO code for a $10 discount.  The code is "CRSHRM" and must be used in April for the discount to be applied.

    *         We are still in need of volunteers to help with the preparation for the 2015 State Conference.  There are currently 36 volunteers, with only 4 from our Chapter.  If you are interested in being a part of the planning process for State Conference, please contact Michael Chopp.

I know that's a lot to take in!!  Our Chapter is busy, busy, busy!  Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or suggestions.  It's a pleasure serving as your 2014 Chapter President.

    Thank you,

    Krissy Threatt, PHR
